Toshi

About

Since the emergence of blockchain technology, Toshi has made works that deal with smart contracts and their standards, as well as with the ways organizations are constituted. These include “The Ten Thousand” (2022), a contract that meets only the minimum conditions needed to be displayed as an NFT; “OpenTransfer” (2022), a token that anyone can transfer; and “PlayTrain” (2023–24), which links ENS subnames together into a single train. Through very small interventions in standards, Toshi has continued to ask what digital ownership and identity rest on.
